Privacy Policy
Effective August 30, 2026
This policy explains how Bay Kayak Fishing (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you use this website, contact us, or make a rental booking.
1. Information we collect
- Contact information: your name, email address, and phone number.
- Booking information: rental date, launch site, start time, rental length, kayak and add-on choices, promo code, price, payment status, and booking notes you choose to provide.
- Agreement records: the rental-agreement version and the date and time it was accepted.
- Payment information: Stripe processes card details. We receive transaction identifiers, status, amount, and limited payment-related information, but not your full card number.
- Communications: messages and requests you send to us and our responses.
- Technical information: ordinary server logs may contain an IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, referring page, and access date and time.
Please do not put sensitive medical, financial, identity-document, or other unnecessary personal information in the optional booking-notes field.
2. How we use information
- Provide availability, calculate prices, create and manage bookings, and take payment.
- Send confirmations, launch instructions, service notices, and respond to questions.
- Prepare equipment, plan safe operations, verify agreement acceptance, and handle incidents.
- Prevent fraud, secure and troubleshoot the website, keep business records, and comply with law.
- Enforce our agreements and protect customers, staff, the public, our rights, and our equipment.
We do not use booking contact information to send unrelated marketing unless you separately ask to receive it.
3. When we disclose information
We may disclose only the information reasonably needed to:
- Service providers: website and database hosting providers, Stripe for payments, and Resend for transactional email.
- Safety and operations: staff, contractors, launch partners, emergency responders, or medical providers when reasonably necessary for a rental or emergency.
- Legal and protective purposes: government authorities, courts, insurers, attorneys, or others when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate an incident, prevent harm or fraud, or protect legal rights.
- Business changes: a buyer, successor, or adviser in a proposed or completed sale, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the business, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Retention
We keep booking, agreement, payment, and communication records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the rental, maintain tax and business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal or insurance requirements. Security logs are generally kept for a shorter period unless needed to investigate a problem. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to backups and legal obligations.
5. Your choices and requests
You may ask to review, correct, or delete personal information by contacting us below. We may need to verify your identity. We may keep information that is accurate and reasonably needed for an active booking, transaction records, security, legal claims, insurance, or compliance. Where a privacy law gives you additional rights, we will honor them as required and will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
6. Cookies, tracking, and browser signals
The public booking site does not use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral tracking. A strictly necessary signed session cookie is used only when an administrator signs into the private admin area. Third-party resources, such as hosted fonts, may receive ordinary request information under their own privacy policies.
Because we do not track public-site visitors across third-party websites, browser “Do Not Track” signals do not change the site’s behavior. We honor legally recognized opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control, where applicable; we currently do not sell or share personal information in a way that requires such an opt-out. We do not knowingly allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information on this site for cross-site behavioral advertising.
7. Children
Online bookings must be made by an adult. This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from them. An adult should contact us if information about a minor needs to be corrected or deleted.
8. Security and links
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no Internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. This site may link to third-party sites such as Stripe, maps, fishing regulators, or social media. Their privacy practices are their own.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or legal obligations change. We will post the updated policy here, revise its effective date, and provide additional notice when required. The version posted when information is collected describes the practices then in effect.
10. Contact us
To ask a privacy question or make a request, email [email protected]or call (408) 914-0257.
